MOON TOWNSHIP, PA — Southwest Airlines is increasing its involvement at Pittsburgh Intentional Airport, adding three new nonstop destinations for this summer and increasing service on several existing routes.
According to Blue Sky News, the airport's news website, beginning June 5, 2027, Southwest will launch Saturday-only nonstop service from Pittsburgh to Panama City, FL; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Savannah, GA for the summer season.
The additions will bring Southwest's total nonstop routes out of the airport to 25 - the most of any airline. The airline also carries the largest percentage of passengers at Pittsburgh International Airport moving 2 percent. Second is American Airlines at 23 percent.
Additionally, Southwest will increase the frequency of its flights to four locations. The Destin-Fort Walton Beach FL flight, currently a Saturday-only service, will become daily next summer. Flights to Cancun, Mexico will increase to about two per week. Daily flights to Tampa will increase to four a day and flights to Las Vegas will go up to two a day.
