PITTSBURGH, PA — Prepare for a soggy Sunday, Pittsburgh.
Hurricane Isaias is headed for a Gulf Coast landfall Friday night, bringing with it a significant storm surge, flooding and high winds. It then will spread its heavy rain and wind inland and northward over the weekend.
Pittsburgh will feel the storm's remnants as they move into the region late Saturday night and into Sunday, but uncertainty exists over precisely how much rain the area will receive.
The National Weather Service says there is a 60 percent chance of the region getting more than an inch of rain, but only a 20 percent chance rainfall will exceed 2 inches of rain.
"We have high confidence in a soaking rain, but risks of significant flooding are low," a weather service X post stated. Clogged storm drains may lead to localized minor street flooding. If safe and if you are able, clean grates."
State College-based AccuWeather also warns of flooding in poor drainage areas. AccuWeather predicts the region will receive about an inch of rain from the storm.
While The Weather Channel says locally heavy rainfall is possible in and around Pittsburgh, it is forecasting rain totals of about a half-inch.
Expect the storm's remnants to exit the area Monday morning. The weather service says the remainder of the day will be cloudy, with a high of 72 degrees.
