ALTOONA, PA — Sheetz has been named to this year's Fortune and Great Place to Work's Best Workplaces in Retail list - and it's looking to hire 1,500 new employees.

Sheetz was ranked third nationally, behind only Wegmans and Target. It's the 11th straight year the convenience store chain has been named to the list, and Sheetz has finished in the top 10 each in each year the list has appeared.

"Being recognized among the nation's leading companies for creating a positive workplace culture for more than a decade is an honor we don't take lightly," Sheetz CEO Travis Sheetz said in a statement.

"Our employees are at the heart of everything we do, representing our brand and making a difference in the communities we serve every day. We're committed to creating an environment where our people feel valued, respected and empowered to build meaningful careers while living out our shared commitment to caring for others."

According to the survey, 90 percent of Sheetz employees say it's a great place to work. Nationally, 57 percent of employees at a typical company believe that about their workplace.

In the last year, Great Place To Work surveyed companies representing 7.3 million people in the U.S. and received 1.3 million survey responses. List rankings are determined by employee feedback.

Sheetz said it is actively hiring, with more than 1,500 positions available throughout the chain.
