OAKMONT, PA — The Oakmont Carnegie Library is temporarily closed following the discovery of bed bugs in a limited area of the building on Thursday.
The building is being professionally treated and the library expects to reopen Saturday.
"The safety and well-being of our patrons and staff remain our top priority," a post on the library's Facebook page stated. Following treatment, we will continue to professionally monitor the building on a regular basis to help identify and address any further concerns."
The library collection does not appear to be affected. But the library is advising patrons with library materials currently at home to check the covers, bindings, and creases of books for any unusual signs.
Anyone noticing anything that concerns them should place the item in a plastic bag and contact the library for advice before returning it.
