WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA — A Lower Burrell man has been sentenced for the deadly shooting of a man at an Upper Burrell bar in 2021.
Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli announced the Daniel Moles, 66, of Lower Burrell, will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole. He also will serve a consecutive sentence of 20 to 40 years for attempted homicide.
After a three-day trial, Moles was found guilty in August of first-degree murder and attempted homicide.
In November 2021, Moles fatally shot Randy Jenereaux, 31, inside of Woodpeckers Grub & Pub on 7th Street Road.
Moles fired two rounds from across the bar toward Jenereaux and his twin brother, Andy. One of the bullets hit Randy Jenereaux's beer glass before striking him in the hand and wrist before lodging in his chest.
Andy Jenereaux attempted to drive his twin to a nearby hospital, but Randy Jenereaux died in the vehicle.
Andy Jeanereaux was uninjured in the shooting.
"While Mr. Moles has maintained that he is sorry that the shooting happened, he has never taken accountability for it occurring. I feel heartbroken that Andy lost his twin brother, and a mother and a father lost their son to a senseless, unprovoked act of violence," Ziccarelli said in a statement.
"Five years later, it's a painful reminder that Randy is not here celebrating his 36th birthday, but I hope it is closure for his family that Mr. Moles will be incarcerated for the rest of his life."
