PITTSBURGH, PA — YangGuoFuo, a fast-casual Asian restaurant chain also known as YGF Malatang, will open its first Pennsylvania location in Squirrel Hill on Nov. 8.
Focusing on herbal beef bone broth malatang, a popular Chinese street food that translates to "numbing, spicy and hot," the restaurant will open on Forbes Avenue in the former Evelyn James Interiors location.
Here's how it works: Diners will select their own meats, vegetables and noodles, which will be briefly simmered in a broth seasoned with Sichuan pepper and dried chili. The cost of the meal depends on how much it weighs.
According to the restaurant's website, the brand has served over two billion customers in the past 20 years, becoming one of the world's largest malatang brands.
The Chinese-based chain has nearly 7,000 locations worldwide in 28 countries including the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Japan and Singapore.
