PITTSBURGH, PA — The Allegheny County Health Department has issued a consumer alert for a Pittsburgh-area eatery and convenience store and barred it from preparing food.
The restriction was issued for Springdale Market-Chester's Chicken on Pittsburgh Street in Springdale following an inspection on Thursday.
Several foods in the walk-in cooler measured at unsafe temperatures, including raw chicken, cheeses, packaged deli meats and pizza sauce. They were being stored at 45 degrees, above the required 41 degrees or below.
Outdated food was found, including mozzarella cheese, cooked hamburger patties, pizza sauce, hot doges and pepperoni. The food had to be discarded.
There's more. The eatery was unable to properly wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes. Its three-bowl appeared to be clogged and did not drain. The place was ordered to hire a registered master plumber to fix the problem.
If the problems are not resolved within 10 days, the health department could order the facility to close.
