Braddock Mayor John Fetterman To Run For Lt. Governor: Report

Fetterman, Braddock's mayor since 2005, unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Senate last year.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Braddock Mayor John Fetterman, who last year gained statewide notoriety during an unsuccessful U.S. Senate bid, will announce Tuesday he is running for lieutenant governor, the Philadelphia Daily News reported.

According to the newspaper, Fetterman will take on Lt. Gov. Mike Stack, who has kept a low profile in recent months after reports that he and his wife berated state troopers and staffers. Fetterman has declined comment on his political aspirations.

Fetterman’s website is blank at the moment except for the words “Coming soon.” His Facebook page lists a “meet and greet” event Tuesday evening in Braddock.

Earlier this month, Fetterman was elected to a fourth term as mayor of Braddock, a tiny borough east of the city. Fetterman has drawn national accolades for his efforts to revitalize the old steel town.

He finished third among four Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate last year, but drew praise from many political observers for the populist campaign he ran.

Fetterman would be the third announced challenger to Stack. Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone and Aryanna Berringer, a Westmoreland County political activist and former congressional candidate, also are running for lieutenant governor.
