Brighton Rehab In Beaver County Sued Over Coronavirus Practices
Three law firms have filed a lawsuit against the nursing home on behalf of 15 people, 10 of whom are dead.
BEAVER COUNTY, PA — Three area law firms filed a lawsuit Wednesday against Brighton Rehab and Wellness Center in Beaver County. The lawsuit contends the facility caused the death of more than 70 residents because of its procedures during the coronavirus outbreak.
The lawsuit against the center and medical director David Thimons was filed on behalf of 15 residents and family members who were exposed to the virus. Ten of them died.
The lawsuit alleges that throughout the outbreak, Brighton Rehab failed to follow necessary protocols that would have prevented the virus spreading throughout the center.

Brighton did not observe proper social distancing practices, the lawsuit contends. The litigation also claims that center employees did not wear proper personal protective equipment.
“Unfortunately, the handling of COVID-19 at Brighton Rehab is another tragic instance where families trusted a facility to care for their loved ones and the facility failed to take steps which would have prevented numerous deaths,” attorney Robert Daley said in a news release. “Our three firms are dedicated to advocating for victims who are most susceptible to mistreatment, including the residents at Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.”
