Tanger Outlets Pittsburgh announced today that its annual TangerKids Grants Program will return for the 2026/27 academic year, continuing its commitment to supporting local education and providing resources that help students thrive. The TangerKids Grants Program gives teachers and education leaders across the country the opportunity to identify classroom and school needs and request funding for programs that support student success. Grants may be used for initiatives that enhance learning environments, improve accessibility, address student needs and provide additional resources for schools and classrooms. Faculty members at public and private schools serving pre-K through grade 12 students are eligible to apply.
For 30 years, Tanger has invested in education by providing more than $3.9 million in grants to schools and educational programs across the communities it serves through 38 outlet centers and four open-air lifestyle centers. In 2025, TangerKids Grants awarded an estimated $200,000 to initiatives throughout the U.S. and Canada, with a focus on supporting inclusive classroom environments, underserved schools and programs that address evolving student needs.
Grant winners for 2026 in each community will be announced and celebrated during the center’s annual TangerKids Day in January 2027.

Great reads for a great cause! Find your next great read - and more - at Calvary Episcopal Church’s annual Used Book Sale, one of the region’s largest and longest-running used book sales.
The big event kicks off with a Preview Party from 5-7 p.m., Friday, August 14 and continues daily from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, August 15 through Sunday, August 23 in Calvary’s Parish Hall, 315 Shady Ave, Pittsburgh 15206. New this year: Evening Hours Thursday, Aug. 20 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Admission to the preview party is $10; the remainder of the sale is free and open to all.
Calvary’s Used Book Sale provides great reads for a great cause. All proceeds benefit the Calvary Bookstore’s mission of promoting literacy. Since the sale’s inception in 2006, almost $70,000 has been donated to local educational and literacy organizations.&nbsp;
Calvary’s sale features thousands of books ranging from beach reads to Bible studies. Categories include history, travel, children’s, popular and literary fiction, politics, religion, spirituality, LGBTQ interest, cooking, gardening, Pittsburgh/regional interest and more.&nbsp; CDs, DVDs, video/audio tapes and vinyl records are also available, as well as “book-adjacent” items such as journals and jigsaw puzzles.
At the preview event, prices range from 50 cents, or three for $1, for “mass market” or “pocket” books, to $1 for paperbacks, $2 for hardbacks, and a very few select specially priced books, none higher than $10. For the remainder of the sale, patrons may fill a bag with books for only $15. (A brown paper bag is supplied at the sale for this purpose.)
