$10,000 Donation Awarded to Local Non-Profit Supporting Ill Children

$10,000 Donation Awarded to Local Non-Profit Supporting Ill Children

Liberty Mutual Insurance has officially awarded Howard Hanna Insurance Services a 2026 Make More Happen™ Award for its dedication to ensuring no child is denied critical medical care due to financial hardship, via the Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund.

Initially, Howard Hanna Insurance Services received a $5,000 donation through the Liberty Mutual® 2026 Make More Happen™ Awards program for its partnership with the Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund. After the story was featured on the official Make More Happen microsite at https://www.agentgiving.com/howard-hanna-insurance-services/, the community rallied with over 750 votes and comments—triggering a matching donation and bringing the total to $10,000.

The funding will help offset the cost of emergency surgeries, ICU stays, diagnostic MRIs, and post-operative rehabilitation for uninsured or underinsured children, ensuring families can access lifesaving care when they need it most.

At Howard Hanna Insurance Services, giving back is a core part of the company’s culture. Over the past three decades, the company has supported hundreds of educational, health, and humanitarian programs across its markets. What began as a series of employee potluck gatherings—fondly known as “Choo Choo Chow Chow” events—evolved into the Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund. Today, the company works alongside a network of regional children’s hospitals and pediatric programs to ensure that financial barriers never stand between a child and necessary medical treatment.

“We’re proud that our team’s passion turns into real care for children in our communities,” says Danielle Shearer, Vice President at Howard Hanna Insurance Services. “Every hour volunteered and every dollar raised helps remove a barrier between a child and the treatment they need.”

Howard Hanna employees support the fund year-round through hands-on volunteering and creative fundraising initiatives. From organizing Children’s Free Care charity events to staffing ticket booths and silent auctions, the team consistently contributes time, talent, and resources. Most recently, the agency launched an online 50/50 raffle for National Superhero Day, raising more than $1,000. In 2025, their efforts reached a new milestone, with more than $19,000 raised in a single year.

For the Howard Hanna team, the impact of their work is measured in the lives they help improve—providing families with relief during medical crises and ensuring children receive timely, high-quality care regardless of their financial situation.

“Recognizing independent agents’ dedication to their communities and nonprofit partners is what the Make More Happen Awards are all about,” said Tawnia Langmeyer, Senior Territory Manager, Liberty Mutual Insurance. “Howard Hanna Insurance Services’ commitment to the Howard Hanna Children’s Free Care Fund demonstrates the powerful role local businesses can play in improving health outcomes and supporting families in need.”

Throughout 2026, Liberty Mutual Insurance will select up to 36 independent agencies nationwide for a Make More Happen Award, donating up to $360,000 to nonprofits they support. Agencies become eligible for the award by submitting applications that highlight their commitment to a specific cause.
