Death On Major Pittsburgh Road: Pedestrian Fatally Struck

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle along a busy road in a Pittsburgh suburb.

ROSS TOWNSHIP, PA — A woman died Wednesday night after being struck and killed by a vehicle along McKnight Road.

The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. around the 4500 block of McKnight near the McKnight Hotel, authorities said.

The driver told police he saw the woman standing in the passing lane of McKnight and could not avoid her. The driver remained on the scene.

It's unclear why the woman was on the road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office has not released the victim's identity.
