Moonlit Burgers Expanding Pittsburgh Presence
The makers of the "smash burger" plan to open a second location.
PITTSBURGH, PA — After experiencing success in its initial Dormont location, Moonlit Burgers is bringing its signature "smash burger" to Duquesne University.
Moonlit Burger founders Derek Stevens and Mike McCoy will open in the former Red Ring Bar and Grille on Forbes Avenue near the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. The restaurant will offer its full menu, including smash burgers, veggie burgers, fried chicken, milkshakes, local craft beers and soft serve from Pittsburgh's own Millie's Homemade Ice Cream.
The move came after Moonlit reached an agreement with the university and Parkhurst Dining, which manages Duquesne's dining and catering.

"It's amazing that our little pop up, started during a pandemic, is growing into a second location in Uptown," McCoy said in a statement. "We're really looking forward to a long-standing partnership with Duquesne and Parkhurst."
Matt Frist, Duquesne senior vice president for finance and business, said Moonlit should appeal to university students, faculty and staff.
