National Cheeseburger Day: Here's Where To Find Some Tasty Deals

PITTSBURGH, PA – It’s the day that those who love to devour a certain culinary delight eagerly anticipate every year and it’s upon us. Cheeseburger Day will occur on Sept. 18, and with it will come some terrific deals on the classic sandwich.

According to Days of the Year, cheeseburgers date back to 1924, when teenager Lionel Sternberger put a slice of cheese on a burger while working at his father’s restaurant in Pasadena, CA. It was love at first bite.

The first actual sandwich to be marketed using the word “cheeseburger” was at Kaelin’s restaurant in Louisville, KY in 1934. But the following year, , the term “cheeseburger” was actually trademarked in another place: The Humpty Dumpty Drive-In in Denver.

• McDonald’s: Will offer 50-center double cheeseburgers exclusively available through the McDonald’s app.

After downloading the app, customers can access the deal one of two ways: Use the mobile order and pay function or scan the available QR code at the drive-thru, front counter or kiosk. The deal is limited to one use per customer.

• Wendy’s: Will sell its junior bacon cheeseburger for just a penny with any purchase on the app, according to Chew Boom. The deal runs from Sept. 18 to Sept. 22.

• Burger King: Will give away free cheeseburgers to members of its Royal Perks rewards program with any purchase of $1 or more. Wait, there’s more. Burger King is extending the celebration all week long, with different daily deals lasting through Sept. 24.
• Burgatory: Buy one, get one free at the chains locations in Fox Chapel, North Fayette, The Waterfront, Murrysville, McCandless and Cranberry. The offer is available for dine-in only and does not apply to custom created burgers or the Cam Heyward Burger special.

• Applebee’s is serving up their three classic burgers for $8.99 each. The three choices are classic burger, classic cheeseburger and classic bacon cheeseburger. Valid for dine-in, the Applebee’s website, or mobile app only. Not valid on third-party delivery sites.
