Nick's Fat City: Reunion Planned To Commemorate South Side Club

Some of the best local bands of the '90s are reuniting for a show to be headlined by Pittsburgh favorites The Clarks.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Throughout the 1990s, Nick’s Fat City was one of the best places in Pittsburgh to see live local acts. Fourteen years after its demise, the club on the South Side’s Carson Street still rekindles fond memories for many.

That was evident two years ago, when a charity jam bearing the Nick’s name was a hit proved wildly successful at Stage AE on the North Shore - so successful, in fact, that a second Nick’s reunion is planned for next month.

Headlined by longtime local favorites The Clarks, the Nick’s Fat City Reunion 2.0 will be held Nov. 24 at Stage AE. If you patronized the club at all during its ‘90s heyday, you’ll recognize virtually all of the other bands scheduled to play: Buzz Poets, Brownie Mary, Gathering Field, Grapevine, Dharma Sons, Push and Sauce.

Tickets are $28 in advance and $30 at the door. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.

After a 14-year run, Nick’s closed in 2004. The club was reborn as Diesel, which also had a 14-year run before closing this year. The club since has reopened as Foxtail.
