Here are the top stories in Pittsburgh today:
1) An off-duty Pittsburgh police officer has been accused of punching a woman in the face at the Five Finger Death Punch concert at Star Lake amphitheater that took place in September. According to the criminal complaint filed, Chas Kulow became aggressive and uncooperative with EMS as they were treating his girlfriend. Police say Kulow appeared under the influence and very agitated. When the victim attempted to calm Kulow down, he punched the female victim in the right cheek area. She was bleeding from the mouth. Police say Kulow then complained of chest pains and was transported by ambulance to Weirton Hospital, where police say he became belligerent and uncooperative with hospital staff and officers. In Weirton, West Virginia, he was charged with disorderly conduct. Pittsburgh police report that Kulow has been on paid administrative leave since the incident, and they are now reviewing the charges and will take appropriate action.
2) Lashawn Norwood, 57, was indicted this week on a count of stealing an FBI vehicle last year in Schenley Park. He was charged under seal in federal court on Tuesday with theft of government property in stealing a Ford Explorer belonging to the FBI on Sept. 28, 2021. At the time of the theft, the FBI reported that a bureau gun had also been stolen and agents were seeking the public's help in finding it. Norwood is not charged in connection with the gun. Court filings show that the indicted man has a history of stealing cars and stealing from cars, among other offenses. In 2013, after leading police on a chase, the Pittsburgh police auto squad said they had been seeking Norwood on charges of stealing Subarus and stealing from Subarus, his car of choice. At this time, a magistrate judge has ordered Norwood to remain jailed pending a detention hearing next week.
3) A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with last month's Kennywood shooting that wounded three. He will be charged as an adult. Physical evidence found at the scene linked Darryl Pirl to the shooting, Allegheny County police said at a news conference Thursday. He faces two charges of aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor and recklessly endangering another person. Police are still looking for a second shooter as two guns were used in the incident. Law enforcement authorities believe the shooting resulted from an ongoing feud among Mon Valley teens.

3) New cats, dogs, and other furry friends are now available for adoption at Pittsburgh area shelters. About 6.5 million companion animals are surrendered to rescue organizations each year nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. However, only around half of all shelter animals are adopted each year, according to ASPCA data. For those looking to adopt, a great place to start the search for a new family member is at Fostercat Inc, where Sesame the cat is waiting patiently, or another local animal pound. If you aren't sure if you have time to take care of a pet year round, many shelters also offer opportunities to foster pets until they are placed in permanent homes.
4) The Steelers will take on the Bills in NFL football week 5. The odds are stacked against the Steelers Sunday as they travel to Buffalo to face the intimidating Buffalo Bills. Oddmakers have pegged them as two-touchdown underdogs. Kenny Pickett will make his debut as the Steelers quarterback after playing the second half last week in relief of faltering Mitch Trubisky. Pickett scored two rushing touchdowns, but also threw three interceptions - the second of which led to the Jets' winning TD. Could it be a long afternoon Sunday? Quite possibly. But the Steelers had to take the wrapping off of their first-round draft choice.
5) Pittsburgh's Planning Commission unanimously recommended 412 Boulevard of the Allies for historic designation on Tuesday. Construction on the building was completed in 1927, according to the historic nomination. The site originally housed a hospital, then a pharmaceutical research, manufacturing and sales company, said Sarah Quinn with Pittsburgh's Department of City Planning. Later, the Art Institute of Pittsburgh was located in the building. "Architecturally, this building is a great example of an early skyscraper even though it's only nine stories tall," Quinn said. The structure is a recognizable landmark along Boulevard of the Allies, she said, "because of its grandeur." The recommendation now moves to Pittsburgh City Council.
