PA County Subpoenaed In U.S. Department Of Justice Trump Probe
Allegheny County in Southwestern Pennsylvania received the subpoena, a county official confirmed. Three other states also were subpoenaed.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith has subpoenaed officials in Allegheny County in Western Pennsylvania and three other states as part of the ongoing inquiry into attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
Smith is demanding communications with or mentioning former President Donald Trump, his campaign staffers and other Trump loyalists. Subpoenas also were issued to officials to Milwaukee and Dane counties in Wisconsin, Wayne County in Michigan and Maricopa County in Arizona.
The subpoenas to Wisconsin, Michigan and Maricopa counties first were reported by The Washington Post. An Allegheny County spokesperson confirmed to the Associated Press that a subpoena was received there.

Smith, appointed special counsel last month by Attorney General Merrick Garland, is in charge of the Justice Department’s investigation into Trump having classified materials at his Florida estate; the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection and his efforts to remain in office after he lost the 2020 presidential election.
Allegheny was one of seven Pennsylvania counties named in a November 2020 Trump campaignlawsuit that sought to stop the Department of State from certifying the final election results. The
lawsuit regurgitated previous allegations that state and Democratic county officials broke the law in their handling of mail-in ballots, but provided no hard evidence to back those claims.

Trump's allies also organized an alternative slate of Pennsylvania electors to send to Congress.
Trump also personally called state House Speaker Bryan Cutler at least twice to ask for assistance in reversing his loss to Biden in Pennsylvania, the Post reported.
