Gov. Wolf Seeks Millions To Support Ukrainian Refugees
Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is asking the state legislature for money to support the resettlement of Ukrainians in the state.
HARRISBURG, PA — Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf wants the state legislature to allocate $2 million to assist Ukrainian refugees who will settle in the state.
Wolf stated via Twitter on Tuesday that he wants $2 million to create what he termed a "new neighbors fund" to support resettlement.
"Pennsylvania has the second highest population of Ukrainians of any U.S. state," he noted. "My message to Ukrainians fleeing their country: You are welcome here."

According to Ameredia.com, the United States has 892,000 Ukrainian-American residents. New York has the most with 148,000. Pennsylvania is second with 122,000, which represents about 1 percent of the state's population.
Wolf said the $2 million would allow the state to support community-based resettlement agencies across the commonwealth as they provide services to Ukrainian refugees, providing faster and more flexible ways to get services to the people who need them.
