Penguins Star Sidney Crosby Donates 100,000 Meals To Food Bank
The Penguins captain stepped up to assist others during the coronavirus outbreak.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby on Monday donated 100,000 meals today to Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank Food Bank). The meals equal 120,000 pounds of food distributed across the organization's 11-county service area in southwestern
Pennsylvania.
The food will be distributed through the food bank's multiple food assistance programs including its network of 365 pantries, drive-up distributions and home delivery service.
"Sidney is such an incredible person both on and off the ice," food bank president Lisa Scales said. "He's provided great joy to this region during his tenure with the Penguins, and now he is helping us provide food assistance to those who need it during the COVID-19 crisis."

Said Crosby: "I saw the people of Pittsburgh coming together to help one another and I wanted to be a part of that. The food bank and its staff have done an amazing job providing for so many people and I am proud to partner with them during this challenging time."
During the organization's coronavirus outbreak response during the past seven weeks, the food bank has delivered more than 4.2 million pounds of food. This is a million-pound increase from the same time in 2019.
