Pgh. Winter Storm Watch: Forecasted Snow, Ice Totals Updated

PITTSBURGH, PA - The National Weather Service has updated the anticipated snowfall totals in the winter storm watch issued for the Pittsburgh metro area and surrounding counties. The watch is in effect from 7 a.m. Saturday until 1 p.m. Sunday.
The weather service predicts a wintry mix of precipitation possible with total snow accumulations of 2 to 8 inches. The lowest amounts will be south of I-70.
In addition, ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch are possible. The weather service has said that travel conditions during the storm “could be very difficult to impossible.”

The coldest weather of the season will follow the storm. Sunday night’s low temperature will be around 5 degrees, with the high temperature on Martin Luther King Day expected to be near 14.
