Pirates Adam Frazier Traded: Reports

The Pirates second baseman is headed out of town, as expected.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pirates have traded Adam Frazier, the starting second baseman in this year's All-Star Game, to the San Diego Padres, according to multiple reports. ESPN's Jeff Passan first reported the news.

In return, the Pirates are acquiring three prospects: infielder Tucupita Marcano, outfielder Jack Suwinski and right-handed pitcher Michell Miliano. According to MLB.com,Marcano is the Padres fifth-best prospect; the other two are not ranked among the Padres top 30 prospects.

The Pirates reportedly are sending cash to the Padres as part of the transaction.

Frazier was considered the rebuilding Pirates most valuable asset to trade. The seven-year veteran is hitting .324/.338/.448 with four home runs thus far this season.
