Pittsburgh Botanic Garden Still Open After Parking Lot Collapse
The damage is isolated to the parking lot and the stormwater retention system underneath, the botanic garden said.

PITTSBURGH, PA — After part of a parking lot collapsed, the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden is figuring out the best fix for the pavement and the stormwater system underneath.
The botanic garden is open as usual, with no planned changes to scheduled events and programs or daily visit availability.
Nate Reese, communications coordinator for PBG, said the stormwater retention system and a section of the Welcome Center parking lot were the only things damaged when part of the parking lot collapsed over the weekend.

No one was injured.
"It should not impact other areas of the Garden, other than a slightly longer walk for some visitors heading over to the Welcome Center," Reese said. "We’re still open for regular business hours and are not anticipating any events or programs being affected by the situation."

Reese said the botanic garden will have to repair the system and the parking lot itself. Parking is available in the East Lot, and some more of the Welcome Center lot should be open this weekend, he said.
"We’re hoping to have the situation resolved by the end of this year," he said. "We’re still in the stage of evaluating the damage and planning solutions currently."
