Pittsburgh International Aiport Video Previews New Terminal

Get your first glimpse of what the new $1.1 billion terminal will look like in this short video.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The design of Pittsburgh International Airport’s new $1.1 billion landside terminal is sleek and sophisticated, judging from an animated video showing what the building will look like.

The two-minute video prepared for the Allegheny County Airport Authority shows a building with a mostly glass facade, its interior highlighted by an atrium and a large pool of water. There will be a spacious meet-and-greet space and roomier baggage claim area as well

Authority officials on Tuesday announced they intend to replace the 25-year-old landside building with a more modern facility. They hope to break ground on the project in 2018 and the terminal open in 2023.

The plan also calls for a new parking garage and road system, a new and expanded security checkpoint, an improved baggage delivery system, a newly configured international arrivals area and the sale or demolition of the current landside terminal that opened a quarter of a century ago.
