Pittsburgh International Airport To Give Non-Ticketed Visitors Gate, Airmall Access
The airport will be the first in the country to allow the general public access to gate areas since the Sept. 11 attacks in 2001.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Big changes are afoot at Pittsburgh International Airport, which is about to become the nation’s first airport to allow the general public access to gates since terminal admittance restrictions occurred following 9/11.
Beginning Sept. 5, non-ticketed visitors will be able to dine, shop and walk people to their gates in the Airside Terminal Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Here;s how to gain Airside access under the new Transportation Security Administration pilot program called myPITpass:
- Check in on third floor ticketing level across from Allegiant ticket counter.
- Show valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license or passport).
- Receive stamped myPITpass.
- Proceed through security checkpoint observing all TSA rules.

Those receiving a myPITpass are subject to the same security screening regulations as airline passengers. All prohibited items for carry-on-luggage, including liquids, apply to purses and other bags taken to the Airside Terminal.
Also, ticketed passengers will be given first priority to board their flights. Those receiving the myPITpass may be asked to wait to enter the checkpoint, or pass issuance could be suspended during peak travel times. Passes are not guaranteed.
