CANTON, OHIO — This small Ohio city will become Pittsburgh west for several days this week, as thousands of Steelers fans are expected to make the two-hour trip there. Not only is the team playing in the annual Pro Football Hall of Fame Game, a record number of former Steelers will be inducted into the hall this weekend at once as both the 2020 centennial class and 2021 class will be enshrined.

Here's the schedule of events that will include the Steelers:

  • Thursday: The team will open the NFL preseason against the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game at 8 p.m. in Tom Benson Stadium adjacent to the Hall. Both teams will appear for the seventh time in the exhibition game, tied for the most by team. For what it's worth, both teams sport 3-3 records in the game. For those not traveling to Canton, the game will be aired on Fox.
  • Saturday: Three former Steelers will be inducted into the hall's 12-member centennial class at a ceremony at the stadium that begins at 6:30 p.m. Donnie Shell, a safety who played from 1974 to 1987, will be the sixth member to deliver his induction speech; Troy Polamalu, a safety who played from 2004 through 2014, will speak 10th (provided he can attend after testing positive for COVID-19); Bill Cowher, whose coaching tenure with the team from 1992 until 2006 included one Super Bowl win, will speak 12th and conclude the evening's event.
  • Sunday: The stadium ceremony begins at 7 p.m. Former Steelers offensive lineman Alan Faneca will be the sixth of seven inductees to speak. There also will be a video tribute to Bill Nunn, the former Steelers scout who was inducted posthumously in April.
