Steelers 24, Colts 17: Reaction To Team's Upset Road Win

The Steelers proved on Monday night that they can beat a team that's as bad as they have been this season.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Some would say the Steelers' 24-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts Monday night was a costly one, as it dropped their first-round position in next year's NFL Draft from 9th to 12th. Here's what others are saying (and writing) about the Steelers boosting their record to a still-uninspiring 4-7:

  • Brooke Pryor, ESPN: "For the second week in a row, the Steelers put points on the board early only to see their advantage quickly slip away with a poor performance after halftime. This time though, the Steelers held on to win. Before Monday night, the Steelers were 0-6 when trailing entering the fourth quarter. Only the Rams (0-7) have more losses without a win when

trailing after three quarters this season."

  • Tyler Sullivan, CBS Sports: "This was truly a tale of two halves, as Pittsburgh dominated the first two quarters while Indy showed up in the second half to make a game of it. The Colts also had an opportunity to knot the game up at 24 in the final seconds and brought the ball down to the Pittsburgh 26-yard line, but some questionable clock management, coupled with a lack of execution, helped push Indy to 4-7-1 on the year."
  • Stephen Thompson, Sports Illustrated: "The Steelers outpaced their season points average without a defensive touchdown, turnover or their top two running backs on a night when the

starting quarterback threw for under 200 yards. That's hard to do and (offensive coordinator Matt) Canada deserves credit for finding balance in that difficult situation."

  • Nick Shook, NFL.com: "Monday night gave us a glimpse of what the Steelers' future might look like if Pickett pans out. George Pickens is going to be a star, Diontae Johnson is under contract and Najee Harris, Anthony McFarland, Benny Snell and Jaylen Warren make up a hard-nosed backfield. They just need to improve their offensive line and tab replacements for veterans who might be headed elsewhere (or to retirement) in the years ahead. Once again, the Steelers are doing it the right way, and their rebuild won't take long."
