Steelers To Allow Fans In Heinz Field Sunday

A small number of fans will be permitted to sit in the stadium's lower bowl, the team announced.

PITTSBURGH, PA — It won't be the crowd the Steelers are accustomed to when they play the Philadelphia Eagles at Heinz Field on Sunday, but there will a small number of fans in the stands.

After Gov. Tom Wolf eased occupancy restrictions on indoor and outdoor venues on Tuesday, Steelers president Art Rooney II announced that the team is making available about 5,500 seats in the lower bowl. The stadium is permitted to have 7,500 people in the stadium, but that includes players, coaches and stadium staff.

"We are pleased to welcome back our fans to Heinz Field this Sunday when we host the Philadelphia Eagles," Rooney said in a statement released by the team. "We look forward to hopefully having more fans soon while still maintaining a safe and healthy environment at Heinz Field."

So who are the lucky 5,500 who will see the game in person?

Rooney said priority will be given to season ticket holders who did not opt out this season. Seat selection opportunities will be based on a computer-generated random selection of season ticket holder accounts. It's possible not all season ticket holders will get tickets.
