PITTSBURGH, PA — In their second deal of the day before the NFL trade deadline, reports are that the Steelers are attempting to improve their struggling defense by trading for Washington Commanders cornerback William Jackson III.

Will it be a long-term relationship? Hard to say. Jackson, a former first-round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals, will cost the Steelers just $3.1 million for the remainder of the season. Should they elect to retain him to 2013, his salary will be $12.7 million, according to Sportrac.

Reports are that in addition to receiving Jackson, the Steelers will also receive a 2025 conditional
seventh-round draft pick, while Washington gets a 2025 conditional sixth-round draft pick in return.
