Steelers Expanding Heinz Field Pub

The $2.5 million expansion of the Bud Light 33 Pub could be done in time for the opening of football season.

PITTSBURGH, PA - A $2.5 million expansion of Heinz Field’s Bud Light Pub 33 at the FedEx Great Hall could be completed before Ben Roethlisberger completes his first regular season pass. The Steelers are seeking approval from the Pittsburgh Planning Commission on Tuesday, hope to begin construction next month and have the expansion completed by August.

According to documents filed with the planning commission, the 2,000 square-foot expansion would include an outdoor patio along Art Rooney Avenue. The patio would have an event-day capacity of 285 people and a non-event-day capacity of 185.

Art Rooney Avenue will remain open during construction except for short-term closure to permit material deliveries. The Sports & Exhibition Authority, which owns the stadium and leases it to the Steelers, indicated in documents filed with the planning commission that no public money is being used for the project.
