Steelers Officially Name Kenny Pickett Starting Quarterback

The Steelers announced Tuesday that Pickett has replaced Mitch Trubisky as the team's starter.

PITTSBURGH, PA —The Steelers made the move official Tuesday: rookie Kenny Pickett has supplanted Mitch Trubisky as the team's starting quarterback. Pickett will be behind center when the Steelers play the Buffalo Bills.

Head coach Mike Tomlin made the announcement at his weekly news conference.

The quarterback change was widely anticipated after Pickett replaced Trubisky in the second half of the Steelers' 24-20 loss to the New York Jets last week. Pickett had mixed results, scoring two rushing touchdowns but throwing three interceptions - one of which led to the Jets' winning drive.

Pickett was the Steelers first round draft choice in April. He played college football at the University of Pittsburgh.
