Steelers Place Franchise Tag On Linebacker Bud Dupree
The Steelers move means Dupree will be back with the team for the 2020 season.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The Steelers solidified their defense for the 2020 season Monday by placing the franchise tag on linebacker Bud Dupree, guaranteeing he will remain with the team for at least one more year. The franchise tag means Dupree will get a contract worth about $16 million, according to Over the Cap.
Dupree had his best season in 2019, finishing with a career-high 11.5 sacks. He has recorded at least four sacks in each of his first five seasons with the Steelers for a total of 31 ½ career sacks.
Dupree also set a single season high with 16 tackles for a loss in 2019, which ranked him tied for fifth in the NFL last season, according to a release from the Steelers. Dupree also added four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Dupree was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Steelers win over the Indianapolis Colts last season. Dupree had three tackles, two sacks, three hits on the quarterback and a forced fumble that he recovered.
