Steelers To Play In NFL Hall Of Fame Game

The Steelers have an extra exhibition game this year in Canton.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Rumors have swirled for months that the Steelers would be playing in this year's NFL Hall of Fame Game in Canton, OH. The Hall of Fame confirmed the speculation Tuesday by announcing the Steelers will play the Dallas Cowboys in the game on Aug. 6 at 8 p.m.

The move was not a surprise as both teams will have players and coaches inducted into the Hall of Fame on Aug. 8. Former coach Bill Cowher and safety Troy Polamalu will be the Steelers inductees, while the Hall will also welcome former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson.

The rest of the Hall of Fame class includes Steve Atwater, Isaac Bruce, Steve Hutchinson, Edgerrin James, Steve Sabol, Paul Tagliabue and George Young.

Another Steeler, defensive back Donnie Shell, will be inducted into the Hall as part of a special centennial class in September.

The game marks the seventh appearance by each club in the annual preseason game, which is tied for the most by any team. Both teams own 3-3 records in the Hall of Fame Game series.
