PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers traded disgruntled linebacker Melvin Ingram to the Kansas City Chiefs Tuesday for a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

Ingram was in his first season with the Steelers after playing nine years with the the Los Angeles Chargers. He reportedly was unhappy with his increasingly diminished role with the Steelers. In eight games, he has only started once and has recorded just nine tackles and one sack all season.

The Chiefs are looking to bolster a defense that ranks 29th in the NFL after the team defeated the New York Giants on Monday night.

The trade enables the Steelers to recoup the sixth round 2022 pick they sent to the Jacksonville Jaguars in August in exchange for linebacker Joe Schobert.
