PITTSBURGH, PA — Veteran Steelers wide receiver James Washington reportedly has asked the team to trade him.

Washington, who is entering his fourth season with the team, is upset over his diminished playing time last season and relative inaction this preseason, ESPN reported Friday. In the Steelers preseason opening against the Dallas Cowboyes Thursday in the NFL Hall of Fame Game, Washington was targeted twice by quarterbacks in a game in which few veterans played or logged significant time on the field.

Washington appears likely to be at least fourth on the Steelers wide receiver depth chart this year, behind JuJu Smith-Schuster, Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool.
