WPXI-TV Weather Forecaster Charged With DUI

The forecaster was pulled over by a state trooper on Interstate 70 in Washington County.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Veteran WPXI-TV weather forecaster Kevin Benson was arrested in September for driving under the influence. A blood test showed he had a blood alcohol content nearly four times the legal limit and an inactive cocaine metabolite in his blood, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

Benson, 60, of Cecil, was arrested after after being pulled over by a state trooper on Interstate 70 in Washington County and being unable to complete a sobriety test. A blood test taken at a hospital revealed he had a blood alcohol content of 0.311, the Post-Gazette reported. The legal limit for driving in Pennsylvania is 0.08.

He is charged with three misdemeanor DUI counts and four vehicle code violations.

Benson has been on the air at WPXI since 1987. He has worked at radio stations in Dubois and Erie, and worked at WTAE-AM in Pittsburgh before joining WPXI.
