WTAE's Sally Wiggin To Be Honored For Historic Achievements
Wiggin will be feted along with an astronaut, Pirates broadcaster, educator and family of realtors and developers.

PITTSBURGH, PA - Longtime WTAE-TV news anchor Sally Wiggin will be among the prominent Pittsburghers recognized for their contributions to the history of western Pennsylvania, the nation of the world at the Senator john Heinz History Center’s 26th Annual History Makers Award Dinner.
Also being honored at the event, which will be held May 18 at the Westin Convention Center Hotel, Downtown, will be:
- The Hanna Family (Business) – Howard Hanna Real Estate Services; real estate industry leaders;
- Elayne Arrington, (Education) – Aeronautical engineer; mathematician, educator, University of Pittsburgh;
- Jay Apt, (Innovation) – American astronaut; co-director, Carnegie Mellon Electricity Industry Center; Professor, CMU Tepper School of Business and Department of Engineering & Public Policy; and
- Steve Blass (Sports) – 1971 World Series champion; former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher and current Pirates broadcaster.
Wiggin is the host of WTAE's Chronicle. She is also the co-host of "Black and Gold Primetime."

The broadcaster was inducted into the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2015, becoming the second femal anchor to be inducted.
In 2016, Wiggin, as host of "Chronicle," was part of a WTAE news team awarded a Peabody for a series on volunteer firefighting, "Burning Questions."

Wiggin joined WTAE in 1980, and in January 1981 became co-anchor of the weekend news, a position she held until November 1986, when she was named anchor on the weeknight newscasts. She anchored the 11 p.m. news for 16 years and the 6 p.m. news for 22 years.
