Plum Air Force Junior ROTC Seeking Donations

The 2010-11 cadet corps is the largest Plum Air Force Junior ROTC has ever had within its five years, with one in five students attending Plum High School being a cadet.

A big factor in admissions for each year is the admissions trip that takes place at O’Block Junior High.

Cadets have had the great opportunity to give a 35-minute presentation to freshman regarding the curriculum, extra-curricular activities and the opportunities Junior ROTC has.

Unfortunately, cadets will not be able to give an admissions presentation to eighth grade students at O’Block Junior High this year.

The current 2011 cadet leadership as well as the senior cadet staff have been working extremely hard to find a way to advertise the program to the future students of Plum High School.

Because they cannot go down to the school during the school day, they have organized an event to take place after school — the first of what they hope to make an annual event — The Plum Air Force Junior ROTC Palooza.

The event will take place this Tuesday, March 1 and Thursday, March 3rd following classes at O’Block.

The cadets will be presenting prospective students with a “college fair” atmosphere where they can walk around to each table of a particular squadron.

The leadership staff is looking for donations of 2-liter bottles of pop, cookies, brownies and other snacks.

While this is short notice, if you can donate even a small amount it would be much appreciated.

Please have your cadet bring in the items you wish to donate to school either Monday or Tuesday and take them to the instructor office.

Since the event does not take place until Tuesday at 3:00 p.m., you could also drop off your donation during school at the security desk directly located next the main office marked with JROTC.

If you have any questions please contact cadet Col. Chelsea Getsy directly at commandergetsy@gmail.com.
