Back to School: First Day, Football and Band Camp

August is here, and that means it's time to get ready to go back to school. Here are 5 things you should know if you're in the Riverview School District.

1. The first day of school for students is Thursday, Aug. 22. A district calendar has been attached to this article.

2. There is no school on Sept. 2, Labor Day.

3. The district currently is setting up a new online payment plan for student lunch accounts for the 2013-14 school year. Visit http://rsd.k12.pa.us/FoodService.aspx for more information.

4. The Raiders band camp is under way. Students will be practicing this year's program through Friday, Aug. 16. At 7:30 p.m. the last day of band camp, members of the community can preview the show—and eat some pie—at the Riverside Park football field.

5. The Raiders football season begins on Aug. 17 with a game against Deer Lakes. The first official home game will be against Northgate on Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m. at Riverside Park.
