Cause of Death Pending for Man Who Was Found in the Allegheny River

The county medical examiner's office had identified the victim.

Police continue to investigate the death of a man whose body was found floating in the Allegheny River in Verona.

Roland Askerneese, 54, was pulled from the river near Outboard Haven Marina in Verona on Friday night around 6:30 p.m. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner has performed an autopsy on the body, but results still are pending (as of Sunday afternoon).

Askerneese is listed in the White Pages as a Penn Hills resident.
