Oakmont Council to Interview Jensen for Borough Manager Position

Lisa Cooper Jensen, who has been serving as acting borough manager since Bruce Jamison the position in April, will be interviewed soon for consideration as the permanent borough manager of Oakmont, Council President Tim Milberger said at Monday’s council meeting.

“Ms. Jensen is a strong candidate,” Milberger said. “It was a unanimous decision by council to proceed and take her through the hiring process for the position.”

According to Milberger, Jensen has 25 years experience working with the borough.

Milberger said council worked through the hiring process for the borough manager position at last week’s work session deciding on a number of actions that needed to be completed when hiring for the position.

These include:

• Reviewing the existing borough manager job description.
• Deciding on the type of search that would be performed—internal, external or both.
• Advertising for the position, if necessary.
• Creating a personnel committee to facilitate the process to which Council Vice President Nancy Ride and Councilmember Elena Colianni were appointed.
• Conducting a series of interviews.

“Since we have such a strong candidate in Ms. Jensen, we decided at this time to only accept internal candidates,” Milberger said, “and Ms. Jensen is the only candidate we’re considering right now.”

Jensen will have her first interview soon. Milberger said council will then decide at the July work session meeting if she’ll be hired or if council should look at more internal candidates, if available, or advertise for external applicants and start the interview process again.

“We’re working through the process and trying to be as open as we can,” Milberger said. “We’ll have a chance to hear from the public at the [July] work session. People are welcome to come to that public meeting.”

Milberger would not comment any further on his or council’s opinion of Jensen’s qualifications. He said he wants to make sure the other council members hear his opinion and vice versa on the matter.
