Since a Federal Appeals Court decision in the 3rd Circuit on July 25, 2011 ruled that DNA samples may be taken from persons not yet arrested, Lisa Black’s presentation will discuss a brief history of fingerprint identification and demonstrate how recent legal challenges to the ability to positively identify human beings are facetious, as well as why “replacing” fingerprints with DNA will not work.

Lisa Black is a certified latent fingerprint examiner and crime scene investigator in Florida and a former forensic scientist for the Cleveland coroner's office. She is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the International Association for Identification, and the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts, and has testified in more than fifty homicide trials. Defensive Wounds is her fourth Theresa MacLean novel.
