The Mystery Lovers Bookshop has a spectacular party planned for Wednesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. They will have Alafair Burke and Andrew Gross as guests, each there with a spectacular new book. At the same time it's Mary Alice's birthday and they'll have cake to share and finally, it's the introductory event for MLB's new owner, Laurie Stephens.
Alafair has been a consistent visitor to MLB and you can rely on her not only for a terrific book but a fascinating talk about it. She'll be here with the latest of her novels featuring NYPD detective Ellie Hatcher, Never Tell. As always, former prosecutor Burke works plenty of hard-won experience into the realism of plot for this new one.
Andrew Gross makes his MLB debut at our soiree. He first came to prominence as a co-author of several James Patterson titles (can't wait to hear about that experience). For the past several years, however, he's been on his own producing a series of thrillers with police detective Ty Hauck as well as several standalones. He'll be here with 15 Seconds, a thriller that opens with a successful doctor, in town for a medical conference, finds himself--in a matter of seconds--transformed into a witness to murder and a fleeing suspect. You'll find out just how much can happen in 15 seconds in this taut thriller.
This will be the last event for Richard and Mary Alice and the first for the new owner, Laurie Stephens. It's also Mary Alice's birthday so they'll make this a giant celebration for all.
Let them know if you're coming so they can save you a piece of cake.
