Summer History Lecture Series

The Oakmont Carnegie Library is holding a Summer History Lecture Series about topics of local interest. There will be one lecture a month, on a Wednesday evening in June, July, and August.

On Wednesday June 13th at 6:30, join local historian Ken Kobus for a look back at the trains that travelled the Allegheny Valley. Mr. Kobus will talk about the Allegheny Valley Railroad and its connection to the iron, steel, salt and oil industries in the Pittsburgh area. Mr. Kobus will show photos of train infrastructure in Verona and other local spots and will talk about both industrial and passenger train service. Mr. Kobus has written and lectured extensively on this topic. This is sure to be an entertaining and informative presentation!
