Introduction to Guitar Camp

Intro to Guitar Camp - Monday, June 16th through Friday, June 20th.  1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.  FIVE DAY CAMP.  For 6th through 12th grade beginning guitarists.  Cost $120.00 This camp will cover the fundamentals of how a guitar works and how to rock out with one.  Topics will include parts of the guitar, note names, and reading TAB; power chords, riffs, soloing and the blues; and tuning, restringing and maintaining a guitar.   Campers will finish the week with an understanding of guitar basics and a complete song to play! 

Required Materials: A chair and music stand will be provided.  All participants will need a guitar, picks, a strap or footstool, a pencil, and a new set of strings.   



Guitars:  Acoustic and electric guitars are welcome.  If electric, please bring a small amplifier and cable if available.   We will be learning how to change strings!  Please bring a set of strings to learn with. A standard set for Electric guitarists are "10's", and most acoustic guitarists use "12's".   Needle nose pliers and wire cutters are helpful but not required. Straps, footstools, picks and strings are all available for purchase at the WPCA.
