After a 21-year career in bookselling, Mary Alice Gorman and Richard Goldman announced today that they are seeking a buyer for in Oakmont.
The store has been open since 1990 and celebrated its on Halloween 2011. Mystery Lovers Bookshop, winner of the Raven Award from the Mystery Writers of America in 2010, has established a national reputation for it’s specialization in the mystery genre, it’s annual Festival of Mystery and its unique website.
Gorman said now is the time to sell.

“It seems like the right time," she said. "We had a hugely successful holiday season, we’ve made a and there are so many opportunities to be pursued that will require new vision, new hands and new backs to exploit. Besides, we have all those grandchildren to go visit.”
Goldman, her husband and partner, agreed.

“We fulfilled a lifelong dream in opening and running Mystery Lovers, and now it’s time for a new owner to fulfill his or her dream of bookselling," he said. "We’ve given them a great start.”
Pittsburgh ranked as the sixth most literate city in the U.S. for 2011—ranked by Central Connecticut State University President Jack Miller based on data that includes number of bookstores, library resources, newspaper circulation and Internet resources.
“This is no surprise to us as we have seen remarkable loyalty to our 21-year-old independent business," Gorman said. "Local support, a considerable online business and experienced staff people are the secret weapons in the award-winning store’s growth in business in the past two years.
"We know there is a booklover in the neighborhood dreaming of owning an independent bookstore."
