Oakmont Lions' “Concert in the Park” set for Saturday

The first concert of the series will feature Nied's Hotel Band.

The Oakmont Lions Club will host its new Concert in the Park series at on Saturday, Aug. 20.

The gates will open at 5 p.m. and music will begin at 6 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults and $3 for children younger than 12. All proceeds benefit Lions Club local charities.

The concert will feature music by Nied’s Hotel Band. Dubbed “the best good-time rock-n-roll band,” Nied’s Hotel is a 7-piece rock band which
features lead singer, John Adams.

The band is a philanthropic group that raises money for a
number of charities throughout the area, including Lupus & Parkinson’s disease and Toys for Tots.

Similar to Frick Park’s First Friday and the Hartwood Acres concert series, Oakmont’s Concert in the Park series promises to feature some of the area’s finest jazz, blues and rock 'n’ roll bands. The event is an opportunity for the family to get together to enjoy a summer evening in the park.

Those who attend are encouraged to bring their blankets, chairs, snacks, family and friends.

There is no rain date for the event, and refreshments will be available at the concession stand.
