Eugenia R. “Gene” Dakis, of Oakmont, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014, at the age of 90.
Gene was the beloved wife of the late Constantine “Gus” Dakis; loving mother of George (Gwen) Dakis, John Dakis, and Alexandra (the late George) Gregor; Yia Yia of Gabriel Dakis, Michael and Corey Gregory; dear sister of the late Spiro Raftis. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Gene and her late husband Gus owned universal produce for over 50 years. She grew up very devoted to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, where she was a longtime member of the church.

Friends and relatives will be received on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-9 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont. A Trisagion Service will be held Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. A Funeral service will be performed Wednesday at 11 a.m.in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 419 South Dithridge Street, Pittsburgh, 15213. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Nicholas Philoptochos Society in care of the church.
