Obituary - John Haack

John Haack, of Penn Hills, passed away, at the age of 87, on Tuesday Feb. 11, 2014. 

John was born in Germany, he grew up in the Bronx, NY.  John graduated with a BS from NYU and earned a Masters Degree from Pitt .  He met his beloved Marilyn (Weaver) from Oakmont, PA while both were camp counselors in Vermont. They married in 1952 and celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in August.

 John taught Physical Education at East Allegheny School District for 33 year and served for a time as Athletic Director.  He was an avid golfer and served on the Board of Directors at Alcoma Golf Club.  He was a charter member of Trinity Tower Methodist Church.  John honorably served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Vesole.

In addition to his wife Marilyn, John is survived by his daughters Barbara (Kuhn) of Oakmont; and Beverly (Black) of Newport, Rhode Island; and his grandchildren, Cpl. John Kuhn, USMC; and Petty Officer 3rd class Annie Kuhn, USN.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Tower United Methodist Church 6729 Saltsburg Rd. Pittsburgh, PA 15235. 

Funeral services will be private.
