Obituary - Brian K. Bowser

Brian K. Bowser passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013.

Brian K. Bowser, 44 of Templeton (formerly of Oakmont) passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Presbyterian University Hospital following complications from heart surgery.

Brian was a 1986 graduate of Riverview High School and a graduate of Rosedale Technical Institute, after which he was employed by Emery and Team Trucking.

Being a lifetime member of the NRA, Brian was an avid gun enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, shooting, and was very knowledgeable about all types of firearms.  Brian’s love for animals was obvious by the way he raised his three Chocolate Labrador Retrievers, Luke, Sam, and Max, who were a vital part of his life.  He enjoyed all wildlife and fed birds, turkeys, and deer where he lived.

In 1980, Brian was one of world renowned transplant surgeon, Dr. Thomas Starzl’s first kidney transplant patients, shortly after Dr. Starzl arrived at UPMC Presbyterian.  

Brian is survived by his mother, Kathy Bowser of Oakmont and his father and step-mother, Keith and Nancy Bowser of Allison Park.  Brian was the beloved nephew of Tom (Sandy) Bradigan, Paul (Sharon) Bradigan, Diane (William) Clepper, Gary (Peg) Bowser, Mike (Barb) Bowser, and Pamela Snyder.  He is also survived by many loving cousins.

Friends and relatives will be received on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 2-4 & 6-8:30 p.m. at the BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont.  A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013, 10 am at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family strongly suggests memorial donations to UPMC Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute, Development Dept, Forbes Tower, Suite 8084, 3600 Forbes Avenue at Meyran Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, 15213 or Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 838, 11878 State Route 85, Kittanning, PA, 16201, or an Animal Shelter of your Choice.
