Marie A. Erdeljac (Hajenic), of Oakmont, crossed over peacefully on Monday, October 6, 2014, at the age of 92, in Presbyterian Senior Care in Oakmont.
Marie was the proud mother of Joseph, Jr. (David Belanger), Robert (Nancy Sloan), Charles (Susan), Mary Catherine (Richard) Lear, Donna Marie Erdeljac and John (Celeste) Erdeljac. Marie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph, in 1968; her parents, Stephen and Catherine Hajenic; two sisters, Amelia Milcic and Ann Belshock; and her brother, Joseph Hajenic. Marie’s delight was her 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Marie was employed by Blaw-Knox Steel and by Tomanetti’s Food Products. Marie’s vocation was as a loving wife, devoted mother, and awesome Grandma and GG.
She created beautiful pieces of ceramic pottery and cross-stitch, enjoyed knitting, and she loved to read suspense novels. Marie was known by family and friends for her hospitable home, sense of humor, beautiful singing voice, and strong character. Her family enjoyed her homemade holiday cookies and delicious pies. Marie was a member of St. Irenaeus Church in Oakmont.
Friends and relatives will be received at the BURKET - TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES, INC., 421 Allegheny Avenue, Oakmont, on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, from 6-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 8, 2014, from 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. October 9, 2014, in
St. Irenaeus Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, O’Hara Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, 387 Maryland Avenue, Oakmont, PA.
